Why pick LLDPE over HDPE?

Tensile strength isn't everything. Flexibility matters too.

LLDPE gives you: higher elongation, better flexibility with temperature changes, adapts to uneven subgrades. Still has good puncture resistance and welds fine. Plus the texture for slope grip.

We've seen stiffer liners die from settlement. LLDPE would've been fine.

Smooth vs textured – which one?

Flat bottom? Smooth is fine. Moderate slope? Single‑sided texture. Steep slope? Double‑sided.

Texture adds friction between liner and soil, geotextile, or drainage layer. If your embankment is steep or unstable, texture helps a lot.

How thick?

Depends:

· Fish ponds: 0.75–1.0 mm

· Irrigation: 1.0–1.5 mm

· Mining ponds: 1.5–2.0 mm

· Industrial: 2.0 mm+

Cold climate or settlement worries? Go a bit thicker.
